Dear LaLiberte Families:
It’s been a busy week here at school with lots of special activities and projects happening in classrooms as well as continued hard work! Our Lost and Found is quite full, so if you have a moment to stop by before the winter break to look through, you might find something you’ve been looking for! After next week, we will be donating the items currently in Lost and Found! Holly R. Hargraves, Principal Craig Poulos, Assistant Principal News from LPO: - Stock The Lounge: Last week we stocked the teachers lounge with several generous donations from our Laliberte families. Thank you so much to everyone who contributed to this! The teachers enjoyed this special treat. - Holiday Shop: We just wrapped up our holiday shop and it was a huge success! Thank you to all the staff and parent volunteers who helped make this such a wonderful experience for our students. - Website: Stay up to date on all things LPO related at LionsLPO.org - Our next meeting is January 10, 2024 at 6:30 PM in the library. Happy Friday! A reminder to be sure to send your child into school with layers for the winter weather. We try to get outside every day that weather allows and we are seeing many students without coats, hats or mittens! If you need assistance with winter outerwear, please let Mrs. Hargraves know-we can help! Today our Grade 3 students attended a presentation with RaynWater STEAM to learn more about the upcoming solar eclipse expected on April 8, 2024. Students learned what a solar eclipse is and how to safely view one. An eclipse “Watch Party” is planned for families and more information will be shared! Holly R. Help us celebrate Family Literacy Month by enjoying reading and writing activities together as a family. The following is a list of literacy activities we hope your family will enjoy together! - Vocabulary Jar: Each time a family member finds a new or interesting word, write it on a piece of paper and add it to your family word jar! Once the jar is full, celebrate with a trip to the library or a new book! - Cook together: Spend time weekly reading recipes and making dinner together! Have your child make the grocery list! - Play Board Games: Board games are a great way to spend time with your family: reading the directions, taking turns, and learning patience! - Library Field Trip: Visit your local library to pick out new books to read at home. Choose a theme, topic or any family favorite to bring home and enjoy reading together as a family. - Scavenger Hunt: Put letters, words, phrases or sentences around your house and have a scavenger hunt as a family. This is a fun way to reinforce the skills that are being taught in the classroom at home as well! - Book Basket: Look through the books that you have at home and put them in a container or basket. Find a visible spot in your living space for your book basket. Having books readily available can help promote reading at home! November Literacy Newsletter 2023.pdf Holly R.
